Account security with Matrix World, Part 2 — Telegram Scams

In recent years and with the increased popularity of cryptocurrency and NFTs, we’ve seen scammers find new and creative ways to try and access your digital assets.
In this article, as part 2 of a 5 part series, we will look at tips to protect your digital assets and common things scammers are doing inside Telegram to trick you.
For those who are new, Matrix World, created by Matrix Labs is the first multichain metaverse that allows users to own land on an option of blockchains. This option of blockchains, in conjunction with their plans for a friendly WYSIWYG editor, customizable object life cycles, gameplay, and entertainment, makes Matrix World an exciting choice.
In our last article, we discussed common ways that scammers use Discord to scam you. While there are some similarities, Telegram scams typically take a generalized approach preying on large groups. Let’s look at some tips to help protect you while on Telegram.
Seven tips when using Telegram to protect your account
- Whenever joining a telegram group, confirm that the link used was from the project’s website or a verified source. If you believe the group is fake, report the group immediately.
- Check to make sure that the Admin in the group you’re speaking with is not a copycat or pretending to be someone else. Confirm the spelling of their handle and also make sure they have the ‘admin’ role in the member’s list (image 1).
- Disable Automatic Media Downloads in Settings > Data & Storage (image 2).
- Enable 2 Factor Authentication. 2 Factor Authentication uses multi-factor authentication and, as the name suggests, requires two methods of authorization to log in.
- Adjust your privacy settings so your phone number is not visible to anyone (image 3).
- Avoid clicking on any links provided inside of Telegram, instead use the official website or Twitter to access any product services.
- Do not join any ‘signal’ or ‘pump and dump’ groups. They prey on having a large following to increase their chances of success, not yours.
- Do not respond to direct messages and use the website’s official support for troubleshooting concerns.
