The New Visual Identity of Matrix World

Matrix World updated logo.

Today, we are excited to launch the updated Matrix World logo across all platforms. When the logo was first designed, we didn’t fully grasp what Matrix World was going to become and how it would serve our community.

As is the case with any project, when a vision comes to fruition, the brand naturally evolves, and for Matrix World, a part of this evolution was the creation of our Style Guide and updating the Matrix World logo.

For those unfamiliar, Matrix World, created by Matrix Labs, is the first multichain metaverse that permits users to own land on a choice of blockchains. The choice of blockchains, in combination with their upcoming plans for a user-friendly WYSIWYG editor, customizable object lifecycles, interactive gameplay, and entertainment, makes Matrix World an appealing choice.

Matrix World Logo

The logo should engage the user with its brand, encouraging them to delve deeper into its meaning. Often, meanings are hidden beyond a quick glance, which we will further discuss.

The icon of Matrix World embodies its underlying theme: ‘To Build an Online Society.’ The M and W of Matrix World have been abstracted to create interlocking pathways around digital land plots, which are the foundation from which our society emerges.

Initially, landowners invested in digital real estate. To highlight this, the icon emphasizes its shape using the whitespace inside and around the lines.

Given that Matrix World is a 3D environment, the icon is also presented in a 3D format.

Numerous iterations of the logo were developed as part of wider art update during the creation of the new Matrix World Style Guide. These variants within the new Style Guide create consistent branding, accommodating diverse branding requirements across different platforms.

“The logo references Matrix Labs’s logo colors while retaining its unique product identity. Specifically, the wordmark uses the same fonts as the Matrix Labs logo. This creates a continuum in the public mind between Matrix World and Matrix Labs.” — Michael, Matrix World Art Director

Style Guide

A Style Guide is a comprehensive document that establishes a project’s visual and stylistic direction. This may apply to video games, animation, film production, graphic design, and more.

It’s the foundation that every artist on the team refers to, ensuring a consistent, cohesive design throughout the project. The Matrix World Style Guide includes details on color palettes, character designs, environmental concepts, prop designs, user interface (UI) elements, and more.

A key part of the Style Guide is visual branding. This section can include logos, color schemes, typography, and promotional content. Effective visual branding is important for differentiation and memorability in a competitive creative landscape.

We hope this article provided insight into the purpose of logo redesign and the Style Guide in brand development. This update will play an important part in maintaining brand consistency for our users.

About Matrix World
Matrix World, inaugurated in 2021 by its parent company Matrix Labs, stands as one of the first multichain metaverses of its kind. Matrix World was conceived with a focus on accessibility, therefore not confining developers and end-users to a single blockchain. Each parcel is powered by its unique computational capabilities and storage resources, giving users complete control over what is constructed and the lifecycle of the objects on their land. In February 2022, Matrix World successfully secured $5.5M from 17 investors during an angel-round funding at a $50M valuation, thereby strengthening the growth and development of the Matrix World project.
