Updated Matrix World Roadmap

1. Pioneer Build Overview:
The Matrix World team discussed the Pioneer Build, their initial release that paved the way for the metaverse’s evolution. This phase was crucial for building technical foundations and showcasing to landowners what the team has been working on. The team’s sustainable, long-term vision was discussed, along with the candid acknowledgment of challenges associated with web-based platforms. Their goal is to provide each user with a distinctive, easily accessible digital space via one-click URL. The introduction of AI, notably the AI receptionist, showcased the team’s dedication to innovation and user experience.

2. Castle Build Insights (Roadmap Q4 2023):
The Matrix World team then discussed the upcoming Castle Build, emphasizing its significance in the metaverse's development journey. This build introduces the concept of "instances," which are essentially separate servers that allow users to create without affecting the main Matrix World experience. This ensures that any user-generated content, regardless of its complexity or optimization level, won't disrupt the overall user experience in the main world. The Castle Build also aims to demonstrate instance technology, with the introduction of mini games. The team's goal is to inspire users and provide them with activities within the metaverse, addressing the current emptiness. Additionally, the Castle Build will feature an Avatar Creator, Lobbies, Instance Rooms V1, and potential partner airdrops.

3. Avatar Editor Demonstration:
Personal identity takes a digital form with the Avatar Editor, a feature enabling users to craft their virtual representations. The Matrix World team demonstrated this tool, highlighting its role in enhancing individuality and social interaction within the world. The Avatar Editor isn’t merely a customization utility; it’s a gateway to personal expression, allowing users to navigate and interact with the digital world while showcasing their unique identity. Users will have the option to select from male, female and non-binary, with a diverse range of free outfits to suit their online identity. 4. Hoverboard Race Demonstration:
The livestream not only highlighted structural and aesthetic features but also unveiled the first mini-game: Hoverboard Race. In this game, which is still under development, users compete against each other, dodging obstacles and utilizing unique special abilities to outpace their competitors. The Hoverboard Race aligns with the team’s objective to demonstrate the capability of instanced spaces while providing users with engaging activities.

5. Social Build Phase(Roadmap Q1 2024):
The Social Build phase of Matrix World’s development is centered around enhancing the platform’s interactivity. Michael emphasized that this phase is all about “getting social.” With the foundational systems now in place, the team aims to invite more users, fostering a space where they can socialize, interact, and engage with one another. The Social Build will introduce Modular Buildings, allowing landowners without 3D skills to place buildings on their land. The team also plans to introduce additional games, including a café-style game designed for social interaction, and a quest system. The discussion touched on the technical challenges of accommodating a larger user base, with Alvin highlighting the importance of network transportation, client-side optimization, and game service optimization. The marketing perspective, as shared by Kyle, emphasized the significance of opening to the public, as it allows for user-generated content, creating a natural networking effect and making the platform more “sticky” for users. The conversation underscored the team’s excitement and anticipation for the Social Build phase, viewing it as a transformative step in Matrix World’s journey.

6. Homespace and Real Estate Build Discussion (Roadmap Q2/Q3 2024):
The Homespace Build in Matrix World’s roadmap is designed to emphasize user creativity and personalization. Michael explained that this phase is aptly named “homespace” because it allows users to get creative primarily with art assets. The focus during this phase will be working on platform stability, while also producing a large range of art assets. Additionally, simple games and activities, such as a photo booth game and a fashion game, will be introduced to allow users to showcase their outfits and engage in social interactions.

The discussion also touched on the concept of starter homes. Michael clarified that every user would receive a starter home. These homes represent an extension of the avatar system, offering users a personal space to decorate and make their own. The idea is to provide users with a space similar to a personal website, allowing them to express themselves and customize it as they see fit.

Following the Homespace Build is the Real Estate Build, which Michael described as the point when the project truly coalesces. This phase is crucial as it ensures that Matrix World delivers on its promises. Landowners will have full control over their plots and instances, enabling them to add or remove buildings, decorate them, and utilize them as promised. The overarching goal of this phase is to start building a society within Matrix World. The team envisions this digital society as a place where users can create, trade, and thrive. Furthermore, during this phase, users will be able to make purchases related to land, floors, and rooms. The team also hopes to introduce pets, which Michael described as the “cherry on top” of the Matrix World experience.

Overall, the Homespace Build and Real Estate Build phases of Matrix World’s roadmap emphasize user creativity, personalization, and the establishment of a thriving digital society. The team’s excitement and anticipation for these phases are evident, and they look forward to seeing the community’s engagement and creativity come to life.

About Matrix World

Matrix World, inaugurated in 2021 by its parent company Matrix Labs, stands as one of the first multichain metaverses of its kind. Matrix World was conceived with a focus on accessibility, therefore not confining developers and end-users to a single blockchain. Each parcel is powered by its unique computational capabilities and storage resources, giving users complete control over what is constructed and the lifecycle of the objects on their land. In February 2022, Matrix World successfully secured $5.5M from 17 investors during an angel-round funding at a $50M valuation, thereby strengthening the growth and development of the Matrix World project.
